Kandivali West, S.V. Road: A garage that has been a fixture in the community since 1971 is now facing uncertainty after the R. South Division of the Municipality declared it unauthorized. This sudden decision has sparked outrage and confusion, especially for the garage’s owner, Ranjit Mapra.

Mapra, who has consistently paid commercial rates to the municipal corporation, is bewildered by the declaration. He asserts that the garage’s design was initially approved by the R. South Division, and he alleges that corruption within the department might be at play. Mapra cites his regular payments of commercial electricity bills and his non-payment of maintenance dues to the society as evidence of his compliance with regulations.

Local residents have also voiced their concerns, suggesting that the municipality acted without properly consulting the society plan. They believe the decision appears rushed and poorly researched. The documents Mapra holds seem to indicate potential oversight or malpractice within the R. South Division of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

BJP MLA Yogesh Sagar has added to the controversy, stating, “This garage is completely unauthorized; they don’t have any official proof.” His remarks have led to further questions: Why was permission granted initially? Why were taxes collected if the garage was unauthorized?

The sudden declaration has raised many questions, prompting calls for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the municipality’s actions and the true status of the garage.
